[新聞] Re-sign Tim Collins to one-year deal

The Royals have re-signed left-handed reliever Tim Collins to a one-year deal
according to Jeffrey Flanagan. Collins missed the entire 2015 season after
Tommy John surgery but should be able to return near the start of next year
if not by Opening Day. The one-year contract is for $1.475 million with a
$50,000 All-Star bonus. Collins was a candidate to be non-tendered this week,
but the Royals must be confident enough in his recovery to commit to him for
another season
The 26-year old Collins has pitched four seasons with the Royals and has a
3.54 career ERA in 211 Major League innings. He struggled in his last active
season in 2014, posting a 3.86 ERA in 21 innings and spending much of the
season in AAA Omaha. He did make the post-season roster that year, allowing
two runs in 5 2/3 innings. MLB Trade Rumors projected him to get exactly the
salary he did, $1.475 million.
The Royals still have until Wednesday to decide whether or not to tender
contracts to their remaining arbitration-eligible players. Lorenzo Cain, Mike
Moustakas, Danny Duffy, and Jarrod Dyson should be obvious tenders, but the
Royals will have decisions to make on Greg Holland, Louis Coleman, and Drew
Butera. Tim Collins joins a bullpen that includes Wade Davis, Kelvin Herrera,
and Luke Hochevar.
