he Kansas City Royals' season was delivered a significant blow after the news of star catcher Salvador Perez needing Tommy John surgery struck the organization.
Maldonado, 32, spent the 2018 MLB season with the Los Angeles Angels and Houston Astros, appearing in 119 games, slashing .225/.276/.351 with 9 home runs and 44 RBI. Not the greatest offensive production, but he's known for his defense behind the plate, which will be crucial for KC with Perez out.
