Arizona's five-spot in the sixth gives righty first loss
By Rich Draper / MLB.com
PHOENIX -- Steve Finley cracked a two-run homer and Barry Bonds came within a
few feet of his first round-tripper of the season, but the Giants dropped a
7-4 decision to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field on Tuesday night.
The D-Backs' victory broke the Giants' seven-game winning streak at Chase
Field.
San Francisco pitcher Matt Morris (2-1) yielded nine hits over 5 2/3 frames,
and allowed five runs in the sixth, including pinch-hitter Tony Clark's two-
run single and Luis Gonzalez's RBI double, the 500th two-bagger of his career.
Finley hit his first home run off Juan Cruz with Omar Vizquel aboard, then
Bonds doubled off the left-center seats some 413 feet away, and eventually
scored on Pedro Feliz's sacrifice fly for San Francisco's brief 3-2 lead in
the sixth.
Mike Matheny hit a solo homer in the ninth inning, but the Giants couldn't
rally any more.
The winning pitcher was Arizona reliever Brandon Lyon (1-0).
