04/19/2007 2:15 AM ET Giants triumph in 12th inning vs. Cards Bonds ties the game with homer 738; Aurilia wins it with single By Chris Haft / MLB.com SAN FRANCISCO -- After Barry Bonds delivered his 738th career home run to tie the score in the eighth inning, the San Francisco Giants rode that momentum to a 6-5 victory Wednesday night over the St. Louis Cardinals on Rich Aurilia's RBI single in the 12th inning. Bonds' home run, his fourth of the season, erased a 5-4 deficit against Ryan Franklin and left him 17 behind all-time leader Hank Aaron. The Cardinals nearly scored in the 12th against Jonathan Sanchez, as Albert Pujols grounded a leadoff single and moved to third base with one out. But, with a 1-2 count on Yadier Molina, Pujols broke from third on an apparent steal attempt and was tagged out. Then the Giants broke through in their half of the inning against Josh Hancock (0-1), St. Louis' sixth reliever. Randy Winn opened the rally with an infield single and moved to second on pinch-hitter Mark Sweeney's sacrifice bunt. After Omar Vizquel drew a four-pitch walk, Todd Linden struck out for the fourth time in a row. Up came Aurilia, who hammered a 1-1 pitch to left-center field. Sanchez (1-0) earned the decision by pitching three shutout innings for the Giants (5-8), who have won four of their last six games. The Giants opened the scoring in the second inning on Bonds' walk, Ray Durham's single and Pedro Feliz's RBI single, but St. Louis (6-8) surged ahead with four unearned runs in the third inning. The Giants whittled away at St. Louis' lead, scoring single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to pull even off Cardinals starter Randy Keisler. St. Louis inched ahead, 5-4, in the seventh, culminating a rally that began with two outs and nobody on base, on Jim Edmonds' bases-loaded walk against reliever Jack Taschner.
