[新聞] Giants hire Will Clark as assistant
SAN FRANCISCO (TICKER) —The San Francisco Giants have reunited with former
first baseman Will Clark.
The team announced Wednesday that Clark has joined the front office as a
special assistant.
In his new role, the six-time All-Star and will represent the organization at
various community events.
Clark, who has spent the past five seasons as an advisor with the Arizona
Diamondbacks, played 15 major league seasons and enjoyed his most productive
years as a member of the Giants from 1986-93.
“We are delighted to welcome Will back to the organization,”Giants CEO Bill
Neukom said.“He has remained a favorite among Giants fans and he will be a
great addition to the outstanding group of Giants alumni who represent the
organization.”
Clark had one of his finest seasons with the Giants in 1989, when he batted
.333 with 111 RBI and finished second in the National League MVP voting to
teammate Kevin Mitchell.
He went on to earn MVP honors in the National League Championship Series, as
San Francisco defeated the Chicago Cubs in five games. The Giants were swept by
the Oakland Athletics in the World Series.
The Giants will honor the 1989 team during a 20th anniversary celebration in
June.
