[農場] 2011 MLB.com's Top 50 Prospects: No. 26 Brandon Belt, OF
Brandon Belt, OF/1B
2010 Rank: NR
Drafted: 2009, 5th (147)
ETA in Majors: 2011
Statistically speaking:
Belt's name was all over the Minor League leaderboard in 2010. He led the
Minors with a 1.075 OPS. He finished second with his .455 OBP and .352
average and seventh with his .620 slugging percentage. He was fourth in
extra-base hits (76), total bases (305) and RBIs (112), fifth in doubles (43),
sixth in walks (93) and eighth in hits (173).
Scouting report:
Belt has one of the most advanced approaches at the plate of any prospect
in baseball. He's going to be an on-base machine, drawing plenty of walks
and with his pitch recognition. He could compete for batting titles in the
future. His ability to remake his swing and make adjustments really stood
out in 2010. He's got plenty of extra-base power, though he may not be a huge
homer guy. That won't keep him from being a run-producer. He plays a good
first base and can handle an outfield corner position if needed.
Upside potential:
An RBI machine who contends for batting titles hitting in the middle of
a lineup.
They said it: "He has a better swing than I did." -- Former Giants first
baseman Will Clark
He said it: "Since the season's been over with, I had time to reflect and
think about what I was able to do last year that I can take into next year.
It will help me be prepared mentally and physically coming into Spring
Training."
