Buster Posey pleased with rehab, expects to be healthy for spring training. PUBLISHED Sunday, Oct 30, 2011 at 12:09 pm EDT source: http://0rz.tw/Hqr4R San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey, whose 2011 season ended in May when he broke his left leg and tore ligaments during a home-plate collision, expects to be fully recovered in time for spring training, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The 2010 NL Rookie of the Year spent the past six weeks rehabilitating and strengthening his leg in Scottsdale, Ariz., the paper reports. He was able to take batting practice and catch bullpen sessions from instructional-league pitchers. Also, Posey was able to run 100-foot sprints -- at what he estimates to be 90 to 100 percent of his full speed -- without noticeable pain. "It was a pretty traumatic injury," he told the Chronicle. "To be five months out, I'm pretty happy where I am." "When I was in San Francisco thinking about what I'd be doing at this time, I was thinking I'd just start to be running, or start to be hitting off a coach throwing. I've been doing that for four or five weeks now." Posey is set to end his Arizona routine and return to his home in Georgia this week. "He'll be in rehab until he plays a major-league game," Giants head trainer Dave Groeschner told the paper. "Nov. 5 is the day he'll go home so he can have a little offseason and take a little mental break. He still knows he's got to work on his lower leg and ankle all the way to spring training."
