Giants reinstate Panik, place Lincecum on 60-day DL

The Giants have their All-Star second baseman back.
Joe Panik, who has not played since Aug. 1, was reinstated off the disabled
list on Monday morning, the club announced.
Additionally, the Giants purchased the contract of Brett Bochy (Bruce's son)
and transferred Tim Lincecum to the 60-day disabled list.
In 97 games this season, Panik is hitting .309 with seven home runs and 35 RBI.
He boasts a .374 OBP, has scored 56 runs and sports a .996 fielding percentage.
Lincecum underwent season-ending hip surgery last Thursday, and his future with
the organization is up in the air.
The free-agent-to-be spent the first nine seasons of his career in San
Francisco, and his dad recently let it be known that Lincecum "wants to come
back" to the Giants.
Brett Bochy appeared in three games for the Giants in 2014, allowing two runs
on one hit and two walks over 3.1 innings.
He went 6-1 with a 2.95 ERA over 43 appearances for Triple-A Sacramento this
season.
