TOKYO, Japan - This past week at the Tier I Toray Pan Pacific Open, singles
runner-up Ana Ivanovic spent as much time on the court as she did off the
court.
At all Sony Ericsson WTA Tour events, tennis is not the only activity for the
players. They also participate in many community programs and promotional
activities to help raise awareness of the tournament and the game.
In January this year, the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour began a new initiative
called ACES Race 2007, rewarding those players that go above and beyond to
promote tennis on and off the court. Points are awarded to each off-court
promotional activity players take part in - the bigger the commitment, the
more points awarded to each player.
Kim Clijsters, one of the Tour's most popular and giving stars, was the early
leader in the ACES Race, but after this week, the lead has changed to
Serbians Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic. Both Ivanovic and Jankovic spent
their off-court time doing individual media interviews, visiting sponsors and
experiencing traditional Japanese culture, which included a trip to a sumo
wrestling practice. Visit the Sony Ericsson Photo Gallery for images of
these activities.
Jankovic consistently dedicates her time to off-court activities and
continued to accrue ACES Race points this week, adding to points earned in
Australia.
ACES Race 2007 standings as of February 4
1. Ana Ivanovic - 85
1. Jelena Jankovic - 85
3. Kim Clijsters - 75
4. Martina Hingis - 60

WTA今年弄了一項選手課外活動積分榜,根據選手們參予場外活動來評比。
而塞版兩位女將都很樂於參加活動呢!! Ana這次在日本還參觀了相撲練習。
