http://tinyurl.com/24l6an Q. Not so easy. What are your feelings about the balls, the courts, and so on? NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Well, it was not so easy, but, you know, I have to look on the positive side. It's always good to win it in straight sets. And I never played this guy. I didn't know. I didn't know him and I didn't know how he's playing his side of the game. So it was our first meeting, and it's always difficult to get into the match without knowing anything about your opponent. You know, he lost in the last round of qualifications. He got in as a lucky loser, so he didn't have anything to lose, really. So he played really good tennis, and especially yesterday in second set. Even today, he had some chances to win the third set. He was really going for the shots, making a lot of winners. And for me, it was difficult to remain calm and try to get the rhythm. I was trying to get rhythm, but he didn't allow me to get the rhythm because he was making really fast shots. But anyway, I'm really happy that I managed to remain consistent and calm and I won, you know. It's first round of the Grand Slam, like I said on the preconference. It's 128 players, and especially those players who qualified, and those players who don't have opportunity to play on the bigger events, ATP events, like Master Series, they have opportunity to play here. And for them it's another motivation. And I know. I was in that situation, as well. And they really give 100 percent. Q. Now, you are going to play a guy also coming from qualification and has really low ranking. He's French. NOVAK DJOKOVIC: And I don't know a lot about him, as well, so it's going to be dangerous for me. Like even the first match, I know that, okay, on one hand, when I saw the draw, I was happy with the draw. I know that I could get tougher opponent. But yet again, I have to say that, you know, this player proved that he has good quality. You know, he is low-ranked, but he won four matches in a row here. He won the first round of the main draw against a pretty good player. So, you know, he's coming to our match, you know, with nothing to lose, again like first round opponent I had today. So let's see what happens. You know, I'm going to try to get information about him, you know, how is he playing, what is his weak shot, weak points, you know, good shots. So, you know, I'll try to do my best and win as fast as I can. Because it is the slowest surface in tennis, and it's the best-of-five, really long. So you've got to be prepared for everything. Q. Your type of game shoots all kind of surfaces. You demonstrated in Miami. You are out there, your aspiration is to get to Shanghai or day by day this year? NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Well, it's a little bit of both, you know. I'm trying to keep my focus on the game and try to, you know, go step by step and match by match, not thinking about my next opponents or points, or, I don't know, rankings. I know these things are going to come with time, with experience, only if I stay focused. And, yeah, my game suits to all the surfaces, and I'm really happy for it. And, you know, I was having a goal for this year, to reach the top 10, and I already reached the Top 5, you know, like couple of weeks ago, and just, you know, not even half of the season. So it's really encouraging for me. And I have a lot of confidence right now, wherever I play, whoever I play against. So by winning, you know, Miami, big, big, big tournament, Master Series tournament, and playing finals in Indian Wells gave me a lot of self-confidence and motivation. And I many really close to Shanghai. You know, I think I have a pretty good chances to reach it, and that's one of my goals for this year. Q. Do you feel different coming to this Grand Slam as one of the big favorites, maybe for the first time in a Grand Slam? NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Everybody's talking about rivalry between Federer and Nadal, and we are all aware of that. And everybody expects for them to play finals, even this year. You know, it's understandable because they play -- you know, they win 90 percent of all tournaments, basically. So they are the two best players in the world. But I think, you know, myself and, you know, a couple more players are in this small group behind them which can make surprise, you know, which can you know do something about it. And really, I think that, talking for myself, I go out on the court, and, you know, try to play my best tennis. I'll try to win, whoever I play against. So that's my goal. And we'll go match by match. It's a long tournament, long two weeks, so we'll see what happens. Q. You won in Estoril. How important was that victory for your preparation for this French Open? NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Well, I think the title in Estoril gave me confidence for Rome, Hamburg, and this French Open. And it was very important for me to win one title on this surface, because after Miami, I didn't have a lot of time to prepare for this surface. I was really exhausted. And I had to play Davis Cup back home, and then I went to Monte Carlo not ready. Then I stayed there after the tournament for ten days and prepared, and I made the pretty good result in Estoril. So I felt much better after winning the title. So I went with a lot of, you know, self-confidence on the court, the tournaments after. And in Rome, I played really well. Even though I lost in straight sets against Nadal, I was really happy with my performance, as well, in Hamburg. So, you know, I think I had pretty good season on the clay, you know, even though I, you know, maybe had some expectations to reach maybe semis or finals in some other tournament like Rome, Hamburg. But I'm really happy, and looking forward to this French Open. Even though the French Open is faster clay then Estoril or Hamburg. Hamburg is really slow and this is really fast. So it's really a lot of fun to play on this clay because it's best clay in the world. And, you know, I had the great results in the French Open in the past two years. So it's always good to be back. Q. Can I ask you what did you do with your Benfica Jersey that you had in Estoril? NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Nothing. I have it at home. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.105.91.30
