Djokovic晉級首個大滿貫決賽!
Djokovic Reaches First Grand Slam Final!!
The Belgrade native is the first Serbian man to reach a Grand Slam final and
the youngest to reach the US Open final at 20 years, 110 days since Pete
Sampras (19 years, 28 days) won the title in 1990.
Djokovic attempts to become the first player to win a Grand Slam title other
than Federer or Nadal in the last 11 Slam tournaments since the 2005
Australian Open when Marat Safin captured the crown.
Djokovic enters the championship with a 58-13 match record (35-6 on hard) and
he looks to capture his fifth title (in sixth final) of the season.
Djokovic started the match slowly, falling behind 1-4 before winning the last
five games of the set and 20 of 23 points. Djokovic closed out the set in 34
minutes with a swinging forehand volley winner.
Djokovic jumped out to a quick start in the second set by breaking in the
opening game with a forehand winner off a Ferrer drop shot. Ferrer broke a
streak of losing seven straight games by holding in the third game.
Ferrer, appearing in his first Grand Slam semifinal, then broke Djokovic in
the next game to level the set at 2-2. In the seventh game, Ferrer let a 40-0
lead slip away and was broken when he hit a forehand long, slamming his
racket to the ground. Djokovic then held his next two service games to win
the set 6-4.
In the third set, Djokovic broke in the third game and that proved to be the
difference as he held in his last three service games, never facing break
point. He closed out out the match by breaking in the ninth game with a
backhand drop shot winner.
Djokovic converted six of 11 break points in the two hour and 12-minute match
while Ferrer was two of three on break points. Djokovic won 63 percent of
second serve points won while Ferrer managed just 38 percent.
WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID
Federer (on Djokovic) : "I mean, he's been now playing the tour for one and a
half years. I mean, the players know him. I've played him already five times,
so it's not like it's totally new, you know, for all of us. But, yeah, I
mean, he's done an incredible job, because I remember the first time I played
him in Monaco. I beat him in three sets. Everybody was wondering, What do you
think? I was like, Not crazy impressed. But he's had a great run and he's
really improved his game. Yeah, I mean, he's done a great job the last six
months or one year now."
"I mean, look, he's tough off the baseline. He's got a good serve. Yeah, I
mean, he's got a good forehand, backhand. Similar to Davydenko, just with a
better serve, it seems to me. I've had some matches where I played fantastic
against him. Had a tough one in Montreal. We've had two best-of-five matches,
once in Davis Cup, once at the Australian Open. I was able to beat him both
times in straight sets. But, you know, these guys improve quickly. I felt
that in Montreal. Hopefully I can beat him again this time around.
Djokovic: "It means a lot. It means a lot. As I was saying before, for me as
an individual, it's amazing achievement what I did here in US Open and in
general this year in my career. And then the other hand, really proud to
represent my country in the best possible way. I'm really happy that the
people are following it and supporting me. Of course, I still I don't have a
big idea of what is going on over there. Certainly it's the biggest sport now
in our country because of the girls, as well. There's a lot of successful
tennis players from Serbia. We are very proud. You know, coming from a
country with no tennis tradition, now it's No. 1 sport."
