Daniel Nestor has turned 46 a few days ago and he will play his last career match in the doubles rubber, calling it a career after this Davis Cup tie. The Netherlands Davis Cup captain Paul Haarhuis was also a doubles specialist and these two had a chance to play numerous matches on the Tour, starting from Australian Open 1994, way before Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime were born! Haarhuis prevailed over Nestor in 1998 and 2002 Roland Garros finals but it will be tough for him to grab the win in this one, with the Canadians being the favorites in front of the home crowd. Milos Raonic, Denis Shapovalov, Vasek Pospisil and Felix Auger-Aliassime are there to carry the home nation and we will probably see Raonic and Shapovalov in action on Friday, with Nestor and Pospisil to play together for the 12th and the last time in the Davis Cup. Robin Haase should play his 39th and 40th singles rubbers and he will try to repeat his performance against Denis Shapovalov in Toronto Masters a month ago when he scored a 7-5 6-2 win. It will be tougher to oust the young Canadian in front of an even bigger crowd, with the entire Canadian team being highly motivated to deliver the triumph in the last "true" home Davis Cup tie before huge changes in 2019. Jean-Julien Roger and Matwe Middelkoop are both ranked in the Top 25 on the ATP doubles list and this is a nice chance to see them in the doubles rubber for the first time, in order to give Haase room to focus on his singles matches. Scott Griekspoor (it would be his debut) or Thiemo De Bakker are both ranked outside the Top 200 in singles but some of them should play in singles, with small chances of upsetting Raonic, Shapovalov or even Felix Auger-Aliassime who is the youngest player in both teams. Felix was forced to retire in the opening round of the US Open against Shapovalov due to health issues but he is ready to make his Davis Cup debut if Frank Dancevic offers his the opportunity to play. Canadians are in a good position to prevail in this tie, winning seven of the last eight home clashes and expecting more of the same against the Dutch squad, especially in the last competitive weekend for with their greatest player ever. https://imgur.com/Xmf4358
