莎娃成為首位在臉書粉絲人數超過1500萬的網球員。 BRADENTON, FL, USA - One of the greatest seasons of her illustrious career may be over, but Maria Sharapova isn't finished reaching milestones this year - she's now surpassed 15 million fans on Facebook, which makes her the first tennis player, male or female, to cross that impressive milestone. WTA star Sharapova and ATP World Tour stars Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were all creeping up to the 15 million mark but Sharapova is the first to cross it - as of Friday morning she had 15,003,525 fans on the social media platform. Meanwhile, Federer had 14,725,879 and Nadal had 14,867,207. A perfect ending to the equal-best season of her career - she finished at No.2 on this week's year-end WTA Rankings, matching her previous best year-end No.2 finishes in the 2006 and 2012 seasons. The highlight of Sharapova's season was obviously her fifth Grand Slam title at the French Open, rallying from a set down to win her fourth round, quarterfinal and semifinal matches - the first time in her career she has come from a set down three matches in a row - and then winning an absolute blockbuster of a final against WTA Rising Star Simona Halep to lift the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen. But she also won three more big WTA titles, namely the Premier-level event in Stuttgart - where she three-peated at a WTA event for the first time in her career - and then Premier Mandatory-level triumphs at Madrid and Beijing. Early on in the clay court season she was just one loss away from dropping out of the Top 10, but after the Beijing title she returned to that No.2 spot, and at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global she was even a few wins away from No.1. "Going into this year I didn't really know what my expectations were," Sharapova said. "I had one goal - to try to remain as healthy as possible, to keep my shoulder strong. I've done an incredible job of that. Actually I think this was one of the few seasons where I didn't withdraw or retire from an event. "There were a lot of question marks at the beginning of the season, and I'm happy to be sitting here saying I've added another Grand Slam to my resume, that I've won great titles, I had a great clay court season, and a lot of good wins and tough matches I pulled through that I could have easily lost. "Hopefully I'll have an injury-free off-season and get some good preparation for next year." That off-season begins with a few weeks off - but where? "I know I'll be heading to Tokyo to do some work for Sugarpova, which will be great," Sharapova said. "I'm actually going to stay there for a bit of time. It's one of my favorite cities. So that's going to be fun - I'll be with my friends there. "Then I'll go on a little break and meet up with Grigor at some point when his season ends."
