Q. Is that one of the best wins of your career? TOMMY ROBREDO: Well, one of the best for sure, for the importance of the match, no? Right now, I'm in quarterfinals. Well, I think it was a tough match, no? It was really difficult to play today with all of that wind. Well, I think it was very nice for me to win again here and being for second time in quarterfinals. Q. What do you think made the difference today? TOMMY ROBREDO: Well, I think the difference was very close, no? And maybe on the last games of the match, I was pushing a lot more, and maybe that's why I get the break. And, well, I think on the fourth and in the fifth set, I was starting to return the second serve of him a lot more aggressive. And I think that's was the reason that maybe he make a few double-faults at the end, because he knew that if not I was getting the forehand and hitting hard. Then he make a double-fault in the breakpoint for me. Well, after Love-30 for me, and thanks to him to make a few mistakes, and finally I could get the match. Q. Do you feel you can go a lot further here? TOMMY ROBREDO: Well, of course. Today I didn't feel playing really well because I think it was difficult, no? But I think that I can play a lot better. Well, I'm in quarterfinals right now. As I told a few days ago, the important thing is to be on the second week. And then all of the guys are going to push hard to show if they can win the tournament or not. I'm trying to push hard and for the moment keep winning. Q. What did Nikolay Davydenko? How do you like your chances against him? TOMMY ROBREDO: I don't know. I'm going to know about my hotel today. I'm going to sleep well and have a day off tomorrow, and then tomorrow I'm going to think about it. I think the most important thing is to enjoy the victories and then prepare for the next games. Q. Your father was a big fan of The Who. Are you a fan yourself? Can you tell me a bit more about why your father gave you this name? TOMMY ROBREDO: I don't know. You should ask him. He was a real fan of that. He really loved the song and the movie. He named me Tommy because of that. I listen sometimes, The Who when I was young, when I was going in the car with him. Anyway right now he's not listening any more The Who. He's changing a little bit. He's getting old and he's changing his favorite music. THE MODERATOR: Questions in Spanish. Q. What was the key to this match? Was it your mental edge? TOMMY ROBREDO: Yeah, that was one of the keys to the match. I was very concentrated during the whole of the match. At the end I think I was more calm than he. But, as I said before, this was a very tight match. I won by just one point. Really, I think there are other factors. It's not just the concentration. I was lucky. He got a little nervous. He's a player who tries to win every point. Sometimes he starts committing errors. I think he committed more errors today than I did, and that was maybe the key to the match. Q. Fourth and fifth set, how did you see the outcome of this match? Did you think you could win? TOMMY ROBREDO: Well, you know, it's a game really. You're never sure whether you're going to win. It was a very, very tight match. If I had had to bet, for example, during this match I don't know what I would have done. At the end I won, but he could have won as well. There was a lot of energy, and I'm going to need more energy to continue this tournament. I'm going to try to go as far as possible. I think this match has helped give myself confidence. Q. How do you see your match with Davydenko? TOMMY ROBREDO: With Davydenko, I don't know. If I had to play against you, it would be a different matter (laughter). But he's a player who is No. 13. He might be Top 10 in a few weeks. He has played very, very he good tennis. He beat Coria. I'm sure a lot of you would have bet on Coria winning this tournament. You know, you've got to be careful with Davydenko. He's in the quarterfinals now. Q. Regarding the previous match with Albert, you didn't want something to happen again that happened before. TOMMY ROBREDO: Yes. I was a boy at the time, you know. It was very difficult, you know, that match. Albert wasn't playing so well. I was playing better. I think these were totally different circumstances. He had more experience and he was there till the end. He managed because he was a great player. Today it was one set for me, one set for him, one set for me. There were lots of breaks. But sometimes we were feeling nervous and really Safin is a very good player. Also it was quite windy on the court. Sometimes the ball didn't really go where you wanted it to go. Q. You said that Davydenko is a tough player. What are your expectations now? TOMMY ROBREDO: Well, I'm happy to be in the quarterfinals. My goal is to play the quarterfinals. I've only played the quarterfinals here once. After we'll see what happens. In a match, you can win, you can play, it can go either way. That's the way tennis is. Marat, today he can say that it's a little unfair. He might think it's a little unfair. I could say that if I'd lost. What's important is to be in the Game 100%, then we'll see what can happen if I move on to the semis. Q. Did Marat say anything to you after the match? TOMMY ROBREDO: No. He's a great player, you know, he's a great guy. Sometimes he breaks a racquet or so. But sometimes he's very expressive. But he's a really great person. He congratulated me. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.162.56.28
