She will crack the Top 100 after the tournament as well. We caught up with her for the latest Getting To Know... I was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on the Canary Islands, which belong to Spain. I started playing when I was nine years old when my mother encouraged me to play. My parents always supported me and my tennis. I had to travel more to play tournaments when I lived in the Canary Islands, by plane. The climate was excellent for training though; you can play outdoors all year round, which isn't the case in continental Spain, where the weather can be very cold sometimes. But I felt a bit limited on the islands, so I had to go. I obviously won't forget the people who helped me so much there, though. I have two coaches, Xavier Budo and Marc Casabo, whom I work with at the Pro-Ab Team Tennis Academy. I go to tournaments with one coach, usually Xavier. I also have my parents with me sometimes. Aside from on-court practice I also do a lot of work in the gym, like cardio and weights. I'm an aggressive player. I have a one-handed backhand and my crosscourt off of that side is my favorite shot. The first time I had a racquet I started hitting my backhand with one hand, and that's how I've been doing it ever since. When I was growing up sometimes people tried to change it, but I felt it worked better with one hand and kept it that way. I used to watch Steffi Graf, Lleyton Hewitt and Justine Henin. I got to watch a bit of Lleyton playing yesterday, which I really enjoyed. It's a shame Henin is retired now. What I loved about Henin was how she moved on the court; I admired that most. I have some of her matches on tape. I also admire Michael Jordan. 她的偶像我過去都是看 Steffi Graf, Lleyton Hewitt及 Justine Henin的比賽。昨天我去看了一點 Lleyton Hewitt的比賽，而我十分享受看他比賽的過程。這真的很可惜，Henin現在已經退休了。(編按心得：Shame 該怎麼翻比較好？求救~~Help!!)我最喜歡Henin的部份是她在場上的移動，我最欣賞那個部份。我有一些她的比賽影帶。我也喜歡Michael Jordan 。(編按心得：噗，小姐你也太跳tone了吧，我還以為你會說足球選手呢。) On what she does when not playing tennis... I like listening to music, going to the beach and watching movies. 當她打網球之餘會從事我喜歡聽音樂，去海灘跟看電影 On other Spanish tennis players... When Arantxa won her first Grand Slam, I was one year old. I've watched lots of her matches. I've watched Conchita's matches too. I can't say which one I liked best. They were both amazing.
