Career highlights: Came through qualifying to reach quarter-finals of 2008
French Open, beating Amelie Mauresmo enroute. Proved it was no fluke by
repeating the feat at this year's Australian Open, where she sensationally
knocked out Wimbledon champion Venus Williams. Made semi-finals last year in
Bogota and Forest Hills, but is yet to chalk up WTA title.

General: The Canary Islander was something of a late developer, and remained
based on Gran Canaria during her formative years when other players would
have headed for big academies on the mainland. Has given her an interesting
and slightly different game to mass-produced, robotic brilliance that
typifies, say, the Russians.

Strengths: Well-balanced and patient, her greatest strength is varied
shot-making that helps keep ball in play and superb placing close to the
lines. Allows her to gradually force her will when in control of a point, and
bit-by-bit regain the initiative when needed. The tactic that relies on
excellent speed and footwork - something she has in spades. One of the
fastest on the tour, underlined by that quarter-final run at the Australian
Open. Plenty of kick on her serve, and reasonably efficient at the net -
though tends only to come in when the point is beyond doubt. Best of all,
seems completely unfazed by the big occasion. In fact, appears inspired by
big occasion, which brings out her best tennis.
優勢：
Weaknesses: Slight build means she's never going to play someone off court
with her power, and without that tool to fall back on needs shot-making to be
at its best. Being so dependent on timing breeds inconsistency. This, rather
than lack of talent or confidence, seems to be holding her back from lifting
titles.
缺點：
Prospects: With power vacuum in women's tennis at the moment and circuit now
moving to clay courts of Europe - Suarez-Navarro's favourite surface - the
Spaniard could benefit. Needs to keep her concentration up at lesser events,
and against lesser players, but don't be surprised to see her emerge as
finalist - or even winner - at Monte Carlo, Rome - or even Roland Garros!
期望：
Personal: Sport runs in her family: father was top-level handball player
while mother was gymnast. Is a late developer: started tennis aged nine and
stayed in the Canary Islands until 18, only then heading for Pro-Ab Academy
in Barcelona. Perhaps not surprising then that Justine Henin is one of her
favourite players. Unusually, has one-handed backhand and, even more
unusually, lists Pearl Harbour as her favourite film.
