Tim Duncan missed the final 3 1/2 quarters of Monday's 88-80 loss to Memphis after spraining his left ankle. Less than seven minutes after Duncan exited, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was ejected after he appeared to slightly bump referee Tony Brown while heatedly arguing a non-call. Robert Horry was the next to go, leaving just before halftime after he tweaked his groin. Manu Ginobili, after getting kneed in his rear, spent the game's final five minutes sitting (uncomfortably) on the bench. Bruce Bowen somehow managed to play 37 minutes despite having a 102-degree fever earlier in the day. "Our menu," said Spurs assistant P.J. Carlesimo, "was limited." Duncan said he thinks his injury isn't too serious, although he likely will not play tonight against Miami. He will have X-rays or a magnetic resonance imaging exam taken when he is re-examined today. His ankle was not X-rayed at the Pyramid on Monday night. Duncan had initially considered trying to return Monday. He had his ankle retaped, but he was in too much pain when he put his full weight on it. "I sprained it pretty good; unless (trainer) Will Sevening is a genius, I probably won't be back for (Miami)," said Duncan, who appeared to jam his foot into the court after making a shot in the lane. "But Thursday (against the Los Angeles Lakers) is definitely a possibility." Horry, who did not return after his groin tightened, will be re-examined this morning to determine the severity of his injury. Ginobili said he could have returned Monday and expects to play tonight against the Heat. The Spurs, to their disappointment, are quickly becoming well-schooled in sports medicine. Tony Parker, who started the run of injuries when he sprained his left ankle on Oct. 17, will miss his fifth consecutive game tonight and is doubtful to play Thursday against the Lakers, Popovich said before Monday's game. Reserve point guards Anthony Carter (left patella tendinitis) and Alex Garcia (fractured left foot) are on the injured list. NBA officials also will likely review Popovich's ejection today to determine whether his actions warrant an additional fine — he automatically lost $1,000 Monday night — or a suspension. Popovich began yelling at Brown early in the second quarter when no call was made after Memphis forward Shane Battier appeared to rake Shane Heal across the arms. After Brown gave him his first technical, Popovich marched onto the court and began yelling in the official's face. TV replays indicated he made slight contact with Brown during the confrontation. After Brown ejected him, Popovich was restrained by his assistant coaches and Malik Rose. He then turned and calmly walked to the locker room, where he joined Duncan for the remainder of the game. "He thought I was actually lonely," Duncan said. "We hadn't had any personal time, so he just wanted to come back and hang out for a while." (唔...原來 Pop 老大被驅逐出場還要被罰錢..是為了要陪 Duncan 呀 ..||) The rest of the Spurs almost delivered a victory as Duncan and Popovich watched on TV. Prior to his injury, Duncan punished the Grizzlies, scoring 10 points in the game's first seven minutes and helping the Spurs to a 20-10 lead. Memphis quickly erased the Spurs' advantage after Duncan left, but trailed 78-77 with 2:30 left when Rose made a pair of free throws. Stromile Swift, who scored five of his 14 points in the final 1:56, put the Grizzlies back in front with a bank shot and the Spurs followed with two of their 25 turnovers. Mike Miller turned Rasho Nesterovic's overthrown pass into a dunk with less than a minute left, delighting the 12,821 fans in attendance who watched Memphis (2-1) grab its first winning record in four seasons. By the end of the game, Nesterovic (13 points, 14 rebounds) and Bowen were left as the Spurs' only uninjured starters. "It's strange enough when you lose four guys at one position," Carlesimo said. "The last thing we needed was what happened tonight." -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.62.95.149
