Steve Nash enters the playoffs feeling the best he has felt in a month. Many
think the Suns will need the point guard's best if the Suns are to surge
toward the Western Conference finals. Nash shared his thoughts entering the
first-round matchup with the Lakers.

Q:Many experts are predicting the Suns to lose in the first round. What do you
make of those predictions?

A:"I don't really care. I actually enjoy it. We constantly seem to be having to
prove ourselves. It's OK. It's a position we don't mind being in. I think
other than Detroit and San Antonio, everyone's got to prove themselves, so
what's the difference with us?"

the ball and how active and smart we are defensively."

A:"It'll be great. Raja's such a great competitor, and obviously Kobe's the
most talented player in the game. Raja won't back down. He doesn't give you
an inch. It makes it extremely difficult for guys. We're really lucky to have
someone as competitive and tough as he is."

mean anything?

A:"I think everything goes out the windows in the playoffs. We definitely feel
confident. We feel like we have the better team if we play up to our
potential. So it's up to us to go out and prove that."

Q:How does this season's team differ from last season's?

A:"We're not as good of a one-on-one team necessarily, so the ball moves. We
have better passers in some respects and maybe a little more unselfishness.
Our guys, sometimes to a fault, pass up open shots."

Q:Besides Bryant's scoring, what concerns you about the Lakers?

A:"They have a lot of talented players over there. Lamar Odom's terrific. We
think he's more than capable. They have some shooters, some athletes. They
have some rebounders and big guys that we don't necessarily have right now.
We feel like they have a lot of pieces."
