A surprise victory over Andre Agassi in the second round of Wimbledon last year seemed to act as a stunning catalyst. Although his Wimbledon ambitions were cut short soon afterwards, his second half of the season was rarely bettered by any other player on the ATP Tour. He reached three finals, winning two of them - in Stockholm and Long Island as well as making his way to the final four of the Tennis Masters Series event in Paris. He has continued to do well this season in which he has won in Chennai and reached the semi-finals in Miami. Although the hard-court game brings out the best in the Thai 24-year-old, his style ought to be suited to Wimbledon's grass as well. But it is in the latter stages of the year - post-SW19 - when the focus turns off grass and clay, that he really tends to flourish. ================================================================================ Data Seeded: 12 World ranking: 11 Wimbledon best: 3rd round (2002) Recent record: 2002: 3rd round 2001: 1st round 2000: 1st round 2.2003 United States Open, seed 11 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/us_open_2003/3134885.stm The likeable Thai is one of the most improved players on the Tour and became the first Asian player to break into the world's top 10 earlier this year. He has a powerful game and an impressive record on hard courts, all of which should make him a contender at Flushing Meadows this year. Yet his record at the US Open is surprisingly poor. He lost in the first round in both 2000 and 2001 before going out in an epic second-round match to Britain's Greg Rusedski in 2002. Srichaphan, 24, made a name for himself at last year's Wimbledon when he put out US star Andre Agassi in the second round. His career has been on an upward spiral ever since. The talented right-hander is a huge celebrity in his homeland and was named Thai of the year in 2002 ================================================================================ Data Seeded: 11 World ranking: 11 US Open best: 2nd round (2002) Recent record: 2002: 2nd round 2001: 1st round 2000: 1st round 3.2004 Australian Open, seed 13 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/australian_open_2004/3254300.stm One of the most improved players on the Tour, Srichaphan is also a huge favourite with crowds around the world. The talented right-hander has a powerful game and an impressive record on hard courts, all of which should make him a contender at Melbourne Park this year. Yet his record at the Australian Open is surprisingly poor. He has won only two matches at the first Grand Slam in four attempts - despite going into last year's event on the back of a title win in Chennai. But despite that disappointment, the 24-year-old went on to become the first Asian to break into the world's top 10 last year - winning two titles in all and reaching four semi-finals. Srichaphan, 24, made a name for himself at Wimbledon in 2002 when he put out US star Andre Agassi in the second round and his career has been on an upward spiral ever since. His achievements have seen him become one of his country's most famous celebrities and he was named Thai of the Year in 2002. ================================================================================ Data Seeded: 13 World ranking: 13 Australian Open best: 2nd round (2003, 2000) Recent record: 2003: 2nd round 2002: 1st round 2001: 1st round 轉錄於BBC Sports rolandgarros 轉錄 2003.02.16 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.167.174.240 ※ 編輯: rolandgarros 來自: 218.167.180.46 (02/16 19:11) -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.167.180.46
