Austria find the missing 'Lynx'
Ivica Vastic's return has significantly raised the average age of the Austria
squad, but Josef Hickersberger has no regrets about recalling the 38-year-old
'Lynx'.
Ivica Vastic回歸奧地利國家隊，大幅提昇了他們的平均年齡
但是教練Josef Hickersberger並不後悔這樣的決定
他認為瓦斯提奇雖然三十八歲了，還是向山貓一樣機靈巧敏
Notable exception
Hickersberger had been eager to give young players a chance in the run-up to
UEFA EURO 2008?, but midfielder Vastic's superb form for LASK Linz this
season forced him to make an exception to his rule. And after impressing on
his side's current training camp in Sardinia, Vastic can be optimistic about
his prospects of enjoying one more international tournament before retiring.
功勳教練希克斯佩格當然會給年輕球員機會
但是瓦斯提奇本賽季在LASK Linz（LASK林茨）的神奇表現讓人難以忽視
讓教練不得不為他破例重開國家隊大門
而在此時的國家隊集訓過程中，瓦斯提奇也很高興自己能在退休前再替國家隊盡力
Vision tests
The 2007 Austrian Bundesliga Player of the Year has been capped 46 times for
Austria, scoring 12 times, but had been out of the picture since appearing in
a 2-2 draw against Scotland in Graz on 17 August 2005. However, he has lost
none of his sharpness – and came out on top in tests to find which Austrian
player had the best vision, prompting Hickersberger to nickname him 'Lynx'.
現年三十八歲的瓦斯提奇是去年奧地利足球先生（按：之前他也在1995、1999兩度獲選）
他上賽季上場四十六場，進十二球
但他前一次穿上國家隊球衣是在2005年八月
只是這些年來，他的能力並沒有因為年齡老邁而退化
依舊以其掌握大局的視野為人所稱道
Welcome addition
"He has been an absolute credit to the team," said Hickersberger as he
reflected on Vastic's contribution in training. Born in Split, now in
Croatia, Vastic has been a favourite in Austria since scoring an equaliser
in a 1-1 draw against Chile in the 1998 FIFA World Cup - a goal which saw a
well-intentioned local paper lead with the headline: "Ivo, you are an Austrian
now!"
希克斯佩格認為瓦斯提奇在國家隊擁有「無可取代的地位」
而瓦斯提奇其實是南斯拉夫人，他的出生地Split現在屬於克羅埃西亞
他在1991年來到奧地利踢球，於1996正式歸化為奧地利國籍
也在1998年世界盃中穿上國家隊九號球衣，並在與智利的比賽攻進追平比分的重要進球
這也讓奧地利某些立場鮮明的報紙不由得放下成見，以這樣的頭條標題歌頌他：
「Ivo，你現在是個正港的奧地利人啦！」
Pouncing days
Whether he gets to make headlines at UEFA EURO 2008? may depend upon the form
and fitness of Austria's captain. Hickersberger says Vastic's main role is to
cover for Andreas Ivanschitz. Vastic has agreed another year's contract in
Linz, but one way or another, will retire from European football this summer.
In the meantime, the wily old lynx's pouncing days are not yet over.
希克斯佩格很有可能把隊長臂章交給瓦斯提奇
並且希望他能夠輔助Andreas Ivanschitz，現今國家隊最重要的攻擊中場
而瓦斯提奇也同意和LASK Linz再簽下一年合約，但也有可能在歐洲盃結束後宣布退休
但是截至目前為止，這個奧地利當代足球巨星還在繼續用他的本領書寫傳奇

不過我想既然是今年才改名為「名古屋Grampus」
那文章裡頭還是用沒改名之前的名稱好了、、、
