However, the American superstar playing in the second rubber of a first round Davis Cup tie against Austria's Stefan Koubek, would not be denied a new record Friday night. In the eighth and final game of the first set, Roddick finally connected for a 150-mph that was called good and not too surprisingly, was unreturned by Koubek. In doing so, Roddick eclipsed the prior world's serve speed best which he shared with Britain's Greg Rusesdski at 149-mph. "The first couple of games, I glanced at the radar. That's sort of a gauge for me," said Roddick, the first player to ever reach the 150-mph mark. "When I opened up with a buck-fifty, I thought, 'That's out of the ordinary." Added Roddick, who defeated Koubek 6-4, 6-4, 6-2, in just 1-hour, 31-minutes to give the US at 2-0 lead over Austria, 声t the end of the day, the thing that matters is that I didn急 get broken.
