Tales from the Tour: Fish nets new coach
Mardy Fish will work with Todd Martin, who retired after this year's U.S.
Open in September. The Athens silver medallist parted company with his coach
of two years, former doubles player Kelly Jones, prior to the Davis Cup final.
Jones is credited with improving Fish's serve and his volleying, but has
received some criticism over the past couple of months for failing to get the
22-year-old into better shape.
Davis Cup captain Patrick McEnroe has been publicly prodding the player
knuckle down on his off-court training.
New coach Martin, who reached the 1994 Australian Open and 1999 U.S. Open
finals, will give Fish the benefit of 16 years tour experience.
Martin will also help to improve Fish's year-end ranking of 37.
