Roddick, Ginepri Recognized for Contributions to Children

Americans Andy Roddick and Robby Ginepri are both being honored
for their contributions to children.
Roddick will receive the Arthur Ashe Prestigious Leadership Award
for his dedication to improve the lives of children in need through
the Andy Roddick Foundation, while USTA Atlanta has created
"The Ginepri Fund" to recognize Ginepri for his support of their
Atlanta Youth Tennis Foundation.
Roddick is the first male tennis player to be chosen for the Leadership
honor, awarded by the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health, and will
receive his award April 26th at the 13th Annual Sports Ball at Chelsea
Piers Sports and Entertainment Complex alongside this year’s other
honoree, Dr. Monica Sweeney, who heads up the Presidential Advisory
Council on HIV/AIDS. Previous honorees include Hank Aaron, George Foreman,
Tom Brokaw and Dr. Maya Angelou.
The Andy Roddick Foundation was founded in 2001 by Andy and his mother
Blanche Roddick with a goal of improving the quality of life and enhancing
educational and economic opportunities for all children based on the
principles of respect for family, education and morality. With the mission
of "Helping Children Today for Tomorrow" the Andy Roddick Foundation has
been able to raise more than $5 million for children in need.
The newly created Ginepri Fund will provide assistance for a variety of
projects, including tennis and non-tennis community based initiatives in
addition to support for inner city youth tennis players who show a financial
need and dedication to academic excellence.
"Robby's support has been overwhelming with donations of equipment,
clothing, funding and his time," said USTA Atlanta Executive Director
Matt Olson of Ginepri, who joined the advisory board of the AYTF in
2004. "He adds a special element to our Foundation that means the world
to our kids."
The unveiling of the logo and the first donation will occur during an
appearance by Ginepri at the PGA Tour Superstore in Duluth on Monday,
April 23rd at 4:00 PM.
