TOKYO (July 9) -- Wimbledon semifinalist Andy Roddick will head a strong
field at the Japan Open later this year, Japanese tennis officials said
Wednesday.
The big-serving American, ranked sixth in the world, was beaten by eventual
champion Roger Federer of Switzerland in the semifinals at the All England
Club last week.
The other losing semifinalist at Wimbledon, Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean,
is also scheduled to appear as are German Rainer Schuettler and Dutchman
Martin Verkerk, losing finalists at this year's Australian Open and French
Open respectively.
The tournament takes place from Sept. 29-Oct. 5 in Tokyo.
