全文 http://www.tennisnews.com/news.php3?id=3810&orig=index 以下為節錄 That, combined with the surprising weakness of the qualifying draw (since this is a 48-draw event, there are six qualifiers, meaning 24 players in qualifying, and 12 seeds; the #12 seed was Christophe Rochus, and several of the players in qualifying were ranked below #100), means that the qualifiers probably won't affect main draw action much. So let's look at what the Big Three are facing: Of the three, Federer probably has it the best, if by a rather slight margin. He starts against the Nadal/Corretja winner. Then, if the seeds held, he would face Tommy Robredo. This being indoors, though, he seems more likely to face Mardy Fish or Tim Henman, who face each other in the first round for the right to take on Robredo. After that, he's supposed to face Carlos Moya or Mark Philippoussis, after which he faces Ferrero. Ferrero will face a tougher test in his opener (which will also be his first indoor match this fall); he starts against either Wayne Ferrera or Ivan Ljubicic. It gets better after that; the first seed he would face would be Felix Mantilla. The alternatives are Yevgeny Kafelnikov or a qualifier. Then Srichaphan or Schalken. Roddick, too, will face probably his toughest test in his opener, when he'll face either James Blake or Max Mirnyi. After that, it's certain to be a clay-courter: Either #13 seed Kuerten, or Nicolas Massu, or wildcard Verdasco. In the next round, the seeds would be Jiri Novak or Martin Verkerk. Pretty close to a draw, really. Though the fact that this is Spain will surely help Ferrero. The Rankings. We already outlined this, but let's do it in detail. Since Roddick is the leader in safe points, we'll list what Ferrero and Federer must do to overtake him. If Roddick loses his opener... Ferrero must reach the quarterfinal Federer must win Madrid If Roddick reaches the Round of 16 (wins 1 match) Ferrero must reach the semifinal Federer cannot pass Roddick If Roddick reaches the quarterfinal... Ferrero must reach the semifinal Federer cannot pass Roddick If Roddick reaches the semifinal... Ferrero must reach the final Federer cannot pass Roddick If Roddick reaches the final... Ferrero Ferrero must win Madrid Federer cannot pass Roddick If Roddick wins... He's #1 no matter what the others do. That's not the whole rankings story, of course. We know that Roddick, Ferrero, and Federer (probably in that order) will be #1, #2, and #3 next week -- but below that, things get complicated. Andre Agassi is #4 -- but he's also defending champion. His lead is big enough that he's guaranteed to stay ahead of Guillermo Coria, since the Argentine isn't playing. But Rainer Schuettler, who lost first round last year, has an outside shot at passing both Agassi and Coria (though he's bone tired; it doesn't seem likely that it will happen this week). Carlos Moya is also on the fringes of that mix. The contest for the last Top Ten spot is likely to be fierce. Sebastien Grosjean has semifinalist points to defend. Jiri Novak has finalist points to defend (and just might fall out of the Top 15 if he loses his opener). That gives Paradorn Srichaphan something of an inside track, but he himself has quarterfinalist points to defend. The player who stands to drop the most is surely last year's semifinalist Fabrice Santoro, who this year didn't make the main draw.
