Ranieri: Valencia had no answer to Inter Milan avalanche

Valencia were rocked last night as they lost 5-1 at home to Inter Milan.
Inter's finishing was just too good for Valencia, as Dejan Stankovic and
Christian Vieri scored in quick succession. Pablo Aimar pulled a goal back
for the hosts, but Andy van der Meyde, Adriano and Julio Cruz all struck to
complete the rout for the Italians.
"All I can do is to congratulate Inter," said Valencia coach Claudio
Ranieri afterwards.
"They played incredibly well and reminded me of the great AC Milan side
of some years ago. I think they will be an even better side in two or three
months' time.
"We did everything we could and my players tried really hard, but they
were just too good for us tonight. Inter moved the ball with one or two
touches throughout the game.
"They have an exceptional player in Adriano, but their whole team is
packed full of quality players.
Valencia captain David Albelda also said: "It was a really heavy blow. It
has been a week to forget but we have no choice but to try and bounce back
from this defeat."
