Valencia are keen to try and bring Chelsea full back Asier Del Horno back to
the Spanish top-flight.
The left back has failed to convince since moving to Stamford Bridge last
summer, although The Blues have yet to reveal any desire to offload the
former Athletic Bilbao man.
Valencia initially sounded out Chelsea about the player's availability a
couple of weeks ago, but have now stepped up their attempts to secure his
signature.
The Primera outfit have despatched director of sport Amadeo Carboni to London
where he will open negotiations with Chelsea.
Having spent ￡8 million on the Spanish international just 12 months ago, The
Blues would be looking to recoup a hefty slice of his fee if they were to
sell, although Valencia are reportedly hoping to land him for around half the
money Chelsea paid.
Del Horno's wages could also prove a stumbling block with Valencia unable to
match the kind of lucrative money Chelsea can afford.
However, the Spaniards have confirmed their interest in the player and are
seeking to try and construct a deal.
"Del Horno is a very interesting player and our technical team has been
following him," Valencia president Juan Soler told Las Provincias newspaper.
The Che are in the market for a new left back having seen Brazilian Fabio
Aurelio leave for Liverpool and Carboni himself retire from playing at the
end of last season.
