Rafa Explains Nando Departure
Rafael Benitez believes Fernando Morientes will be a success back in Spain at
Valencia having failed to settle at Liverpool.
The Reds manager felt Morientes never captured his true form at Anfield and
never quite came to terms with the pace and physical aspect of the English
game.
"When I signed Morientes it was because he scored goals, he could hold the
ball up and was good in the air and he had the qualities we needed,"
explained Benitez.
"Unfortunately he never played at his level in England and the move to
Valencia is good for him."
