[聯賽]Valencia CF 3-2 Real Zaragoza(官網報導)

Enough was enough. Valencia could not let any more time go by in the league
without reuniting with their old friend Victory. She had not smiled on them
in the last two games and Valencia’s pride was hurt. Two games were too
much and Zarragoza ended up paying the price for the loss against Murcia and
above all the last loss in the match against Racing de Santander. So much so
that by the end of the first half they had already scored three goals as a
result of the renewed desire satiate themselves. It was a shame they could
not continue with the rhythm in the second half and what looked initially
like a thrashing was watered down to a very close win.
Why did this match get off to such a good start when others have proved to be
much more difficult to get on track? Apart from the fact that their opponent
was not as defensive as in previous matches sometimes a piece of individual
play like Jorge Lopez’s to get the first goal on the scoreboard. Sometimes
you need a rebound off a corner kick right in front of the goal and for there
to be a player from Rioja to control the ball, get by two defenders, pass to
himself and surprise the goalkeeper with a crisp left-footer inside the post.
That easy, or not.
Aware that their rival had been affected by having an early goal scored
against them so Rafa Benitez’s disciples increased the pressure with the
balls that were moving up the pitch. If you just followed the path of the
ball for every yellow and black player, Zarragoza’s strip, there were two
and even three Valencia players. The measure gave immediate results, Vicente
finished off a counter attack that he started thanks to a rebound that
favoured him when he tried to assist Aimar. And back to the beginning.
Valencia continued in the same line whilst Zaragoza was more affected by the
run of the game. The rhythm of the home team was growing, the players pushed
with the intention of sentencing the game in the first half if possible.
And so it was, once again off a loose ball got to Aimar just outside the area
and he put it away in the corner of the net with the little help clipping one
of the defenders. Football is like that. In a match with the global harmony,
synchronisation between the lines, a really aggressive attitude the three
goals were not the result of a collective cause. The pieces of play were not
well woven but they are perfectly valid. But what is not valid is to relax,
believe it has all been done because what happened to Valencia in the second
half could happen to you. They can score two goals and you could be about to
spoil it all and that hurts more than if they score the goals when the result
of the match is still uncertain.
It is fairly certain that the instructions given in the changing room at half
time would have been do not drop your guard and try to score more goals.
However, Zarragoza scored a goal right at the beginning of the second half in
a great piece of play by Villa. Well, to save their honour you could say.
There is nothing to worry about. But Valencia showed no sign of reaction. At
this time all the crowd’s attention was centred on the referee. We do not
know if it was deliberate but it seemed that he blew up the opposite of what
was happening on the pitch. It was reasonable as there was not much else to
see. The team did not managed to plug in to the high voltage current of the
first half. And just like that the team from Aragon pulled a second goal out
of the bag as a result of another defensive mistake. Well, we are going to
have to suffer was the general line of thought. It cannot be easy. In the end
it was not so bad, The opponent did not get a chance to score the equaliser
but they did make a point. It is not a good idea to sit on your laurels.
