Welcome to ESPN.com's moderated chat room. On Tuesday, June 29 at 7:15 p.m. ET, WNBA stars and Washington Mystics teammates Alana Beard, Stacey Dales-Schuman and Chamique Holdsclaw were here to answer your questions in chat. The chatting trio is the Washington Mystics core and round out in the top three of all of the team's major scoring catagories. Tennessee grad Chamique Holdsclaw leads the WNBA in points and is third on the league's list in rebounds. Oklahoma alum Stacey Dales-Schuman is second on the Mystics in scoring and, when not hooping it up on the court, works as a women's basketball analyst for ESPN. Finally, WNBA rookie and last year's college basketball player of the year -- Duke grad Alana Beard -- will also hit chat with her teammates to answer all of your Washington Mystics and WNBA questions. The Mystics take on the Connecticut Sun Wednesday night. The following is a transcript of the Mystics' June 29 chat: For a list of upcoming ESPN.com chat guests, visit SportsNation. Moderator: The girls are here. Let's go! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- michaelDC: ms beard and ms holdsclaw is the mystics will turn around for the rest of the season it is what are the keys of the next game. Alana Beard: Michael, the keys to the next game are containing Nykesha Sales and shutting down the inside play ... and putting togehter 40 minutes of intense basketball -- MYSTICS STYLE! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- David (Oklahoma): Hey Stacey... how did you become such a great passer? Stacey Dales-Schuman: I don't know, it's all about just being unselfish and using your senses to finding an open player. I grew up playing soccer, in soccer, you are always kicking the ball to an open area. That helped me a lot in the game of basketball. Passing is my favorite thing to do. It's where my passion lies ... it comes from my inner being ... and now the girls are laughing at me! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Erica: (Sunrise, FL): Hey A.B., When are you going to stop hiding your super powers and show the world what that left hand of yours can do? I'll be watching on Thursday night... You're the best. Alana Beard: Erica, I haven't found my kryptonite in Washington DC yet. I'm still looking! I'm sure it will come! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- streetball23, Fayetteville nc: AB u are a great balla in da WNBA but do u ever play streetball, oh 1 other question will u marry me? Chamique Holdsclaw: Yes, we all play streetball ... and I"m a legend on the courts of New York ... the name is Da Warden cause I pat people down! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lexi(oklahoma): stacey...to get into the wnba you need to have a lot of confedence how did you get all of that motivation? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joey, Nj: Stacey, what is it like being a player and an analyst at ESPN? Stacey Dales-Schuman: It's really tough being both. One thing people don't understand is when the season hits -- I become stacey the player... and when the season ends, I become stacey the analyst. It's like Spiderman! Honestly, it's very tough. The similarity is that there is consistant preparation for both -- a ton of preparation, but they are certainly different worlds! Alana Beard: Sometimes on the way to the game, she comes out with the wrong attire and ends up in her analyst outfit and she talks to us at halftime as if she's on SportsCenter! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TonyMontanaJr.(Durhamnc): Alana what has been your favorite thing 2 do in Washington other than basketball? Moderator: Visit Georgetown. Do some shopping down there and go to Johnny Rockets! Chamique Holdsclaw: Alana?! Johnny Rockets is the best thing you can think of?? Boring! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gris Texhoma, Oklahoma: For all three, do you guys keep in touch with our college coaches? ---Stacey, thanks for doing so much for OU. Boomer Sooner! Chamique Holdsclaw: My coach happens to be the Player Consultant for the Washington Mystics so I get to see her quite a bit ... actually, she yelled at me the other day! Alana Beard: I still talk to my coaches all the time, every day on IM. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- rm: Hey Alana, you are a great player, i loved watching you at duke, how much has playing with chamique helped you adjust to the wnba? Alana Beard: None what so ever. Alana Beard: Nah. But seriously ... it's not what she does on the court, it's what she does off the court to help me and advise me in every way possible. In basketball and in life. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fifteen(Bronx NY): Da Warden aka Chamique does the team ever do pool workouts if so who is the best swimmer and who is the worst? Stacey Dales-Schuman: Aiysha Smith! Hands down. She was a swimming major at LSU ... just kidding! but she was involved in organized swimming. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Katie, Goose Creek SC: If ya'll could play for any other WNBA team besides the Mystics, what team would it be and why? Chamique Holdsclaw: DC is great, we have the best fans. I would never leave, BUT, of course -- who wouldn't want to play in their hometown?! It's New York for me! Stacey Dales-Schuman: Well, there's no team in ONtario, so probably Houston for me b/c my inlaws are there. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Neal (California): A question for each of you: What part of your game was your biggest challenge to maintain and improve upon when making the transition from college to the WNBA ? Stacey Dales-Schuman: Everything. The WNBA is in a class of its own. It's the most competative league in the world for women. YOu have to improve every aspect of your game if you want to be successrul here. Alana Beard: Ditto! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joey, Nj: Which one of you sings the worst and which one of you sings the the best? Stacey Dales-Schuman: Kayla sings the best. TJ sings the worst! Chamique Holdsclaw: Hey, thanks everybody, we've got to run! Alana Beard: Bye everyone, thanks for your questions! See you next time! Stacey Dales-Schuman: Good night! -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.184.162.39
