The organisers of the upcoming Rally New Zealand have defended their use of the new, controversial Mille Piste recce format, despite being the only event on this year旧 World Rally Championship calendar to use it. The system, in which drivers and co-drivers recce stages in the morning and then compete on them in the afternoon, has been heavily criticised, but will be still be used on Rally New Zealand after encouragement from the FIA, world motorsport旧 governing body. We were quite a long way down the road with the organisation. said Rally New Zealand boss Maurie Chandler in Autosport this week. 巣 We could have turned back, but we thought we will渇 give it a shot. A lot of people are debating Mille Pistes without really knowing what it旧 about.
