Jennifer Capriati now employs the Swiss and he found time to talk to Eurosport at the German Open. "Many people say that we are the new 'Dream team'," he beamed. "But it's definitely too early to say that." The reason being is that the 45-year-old doesn't know how long he will be coaching the three-time Grand Slam champion. "I don't know what role her father will play in the near future. "Stefano gave me a call in April and he asked me if I'd got the time to coach his daughter. In this case I didn't hesitate and so I said 'yes'." Gunthardt, who won 30 doubles titles and $1.5 million in prize money, was called in to coach the former world number one because of a slump in form. "Jennifer hasn't played well in the last few months because of her injuries," he explained. So I have to try to give her new confidence." The pair's friendship goes back to when a 13-year-old Capriati made her tour debut in 1990. "Around this time I was coaching Steffi Graf and sometimes I saw little 'Jenny' on the court. "She was such a brilliant player when she started... so it is a big honour for me to coach her here in Berlin." The 44-year-old started coaching the American last week before the German Open started. "In Berlin I'm only with Jenny on the tennis courts and in the complex, because I have many friends in Berlin and so I went to see them this week," Gunthardt explained. "I haven't signed a contract, but I didn't sign a contract also with Steffi and there was plenty of success. "At the moment it's difficult to say how I'll be coaching Capriati, but I think I'll be at tournaments with her a lot this year. "But it's also possible that her father will come back and coach her again."
