The 6'5" Chen participated in the Sacramento Kings preseason training damp in October 2002 becoming the first player from Taiwan to an NBA training camp. Chen also tried out for the Denver Nuggets summer league in 2003. Represented by SFX Basketball, John Kim, Manager of the Asia Pacific Division of SFX stated , "We are honored that Sean has chosen SFX to represent him and it is our belief that his talent and ability will show well in the ABA and will make him a natural to play in the NBA one day. Chen added, "I chose SFX to represent me because they are the best in the world at representing pro basketball players. It has long been a dream of mine to play in the NBA and I feel that SFX was the best choice - and the ABA the best way - to reach my dreams. Chen, 24, is a member of the Taiwan National Team and plays for club team, Ulon Dinos.
