Belinda Snell opened the account for the Price Attack Opals in the opening seconds, sinking a trademark three-pointer to get the crowd into the swing. The frenetic pace of the opening minutes kept the crowd entertained as the Chinese Taipei team showed that they weren going to lie down. Scoring came hard in the opening half for both teams; Australia had only 14 successful baskets from 36 attempts. The Opals were out-rebounding their opponents however, pulling in 32 rebounds to Chinese Taipei旧 14 in the first half. A half time dressing down from Jan Stirling in the dressing sheds had the Price Attack Opals refocused when they took the court for the third term. Their defensive intensity, led by Emily McInerny, gave them a 17-1 run in the third term, which blew open the game and provided the foundation for a convincing win.
