Majoli 61 64 賽後報導 http://www.fedcup.com/popup/mediagallery.asp?id=10142&current=393(圖) Russians Take Charge in Moscow Anastasia Myskina and Elena Dementieva gave heavy favourites Russia a commanding 2-0 lead against under-strength Croatia after the opening day of their Fed Cup first round World Group tie on Saturday. Dementieva crushed former French Open champion Iva Majoli in straight sets 61 64, after Myskina had overpowered Sprem, who was making her singles Fed Cup debut, 61 36 60. Dementieva, fresh from winning her first career WTA title last week at Amelia Island, took the opening set in just 19 minutes and was serving for the match at 5-2 before Majoli could put up something of a fight. The Croatian won the next two games, but Dementieva was able to serve out the match after 54 minutes. “Five days ago I came back from the United States and I am still feeling the effects of it,” said the 21-year-old Muscovite, who now holds a 6-0 head-to-head advantage over Majoli. “And the fifth or the sixth days are suppose to be the most difficult, so I had trouble to adjust to different time zones and different court surface. But still, I was expecting a much tougher match to be honest.” The Russian also took exception to her opponent’s comments at Friday’s draw ceremony. “Yesterday Majoli told everyone that she should have won our last match when we played two weeks ago in Charleston, but I think after losing in straight sets today she won’t say such things anymore.” Majoli, however, saw things differently. “She didn’t have to do anything to win this match. I just played a very bad match. My timing was off and I had to fight with myself all the time. Besides, the stringer strung my racket about five kilos looser than it should have been, so my ball were flying all over the court. It was just a bad day for me out there.” In the opening rubber, it looked as if Myskina would run away with the match after winning the first set 61 in just 27 minutes and breaking Sprem’s serve again, for the third time in the match, in the third game of the second set. But the 18-year-old Croatian was able to control her nerves as the match progressed. She broke the Russian right back to level the score at 2-2, then secured another break in the eight game before serving out the set 63. “I just lost my concentration a little bit in the second set, said Myskina, who already has two WTA titles to her credit this year. “Sprem is a dangerous player and if you give her just a small finger she would bite the whole hand, that’s why you have to be very careful with her. Fortunately for me, I was able to get back in control in the third set.” Myskina also paid tribute to former Russian President Boris Yeltsin, who was watching the match from the stands at Moscow’s Druzhba Sports Hall along with his wife Naina. “He is our number one fan, that’s why I was feeling a bit nervous at first. But Yeltsin is also our number one coach and he told me to use my backhand down the line more often. And it worked just fine.” In the final set, Myskina found the range with her shots from the baseline once again, sweeping the Croatian 60 in 23 minutes. The Russian clinched the match with a powerful forehand cross-court winner. “I was getting tired by the third set,” said Sprem. “I was also feeling a bit down on myself and couldn’t get up although I tried, but just couldn’t do it.” Croatian captain Goran Prpic sounded very pessimistic about the chances of his team, which was missing two of its top players, Silvia Talaja and Jelena Kostanic, through injuries. “Yesterday I told you that we didn’t have much of a chance and now I think that we have even less chances to win this tie.” -- 1.葉爾辛真的很愛網球耶!只要有俄羅斯團體的比賽他都會關心一下... 2.戴娃狀況不錯喔!加油! -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 61.225.198.134
