官網報導: Russia Completes 4-1 Victory Over Croatia http://www.fedcup.com/popup/mediagallery.asp?id=10164&current=492(圖) Russia crushed Croatia 4-1 in their Fed Cup first round World Group tie on Sunday to move into the quarterfinals, where they will take on Slovenia away. Russia’s doubles team of Anastasia Myskina and Elena Dementieva won the fifth and final dead rubber against an inexperienced Croatian duo of Matea Mezak and Darija Jurak 64 64 to complete the rout. In the earlier match, Karolina Sprem gave the visitors some consolation by beating Russian substitute Elena Likhovtseva 64 63. “I was really pumped up for that match even though the overall result didn’t mean much,” said the 18-year-old Croatian. “It was my first win in Fed Cup and it meant a lot to me.” Likhovtseva replaced Dementieva, giving the 21-year-old Muscovite a rest as she was still suffering from jetlag after returning from the United States, where she earned her first WTA title. Myskina clinched the tie in Russia’s favor by beating Iva Majoli 62 75 in Sunday’s opening match. The Russian number one raced to a 3-0 first set lead as the former French Open champion has had problems with her service game. The set saw five consecutive breaks of serve until Myskina held her serve in the eight game to take the opening set in just 25 minutes. The pattern continued in the second, but this time it was the Russian who had trouble holding her serve, falling behind 2-4. But Myskina, cheered on by an enthusiastic home crowd at Moscow’s Druzhba Sports Hall, which included former Russian President Boris Yeltsin, steadied her game to edge ahead 6-5. In the next game, she had a triple match point at 40-0 on her serve. Majoli saved two match points in the last game, but Myskina, who double faulted on her previous point, controlled her nerves and sent a powerful serve for a winner to clinch the match after one hour and 13 minutes. “I usually have a strong return game and I think I can return for winners against almost everyone, but I always have trouble with my serve and today was no difference,” said the 21-year-old Myskina, who already has two WTA titles to her credit this year. “But fortunately for me though, I was able to hold my serve at the right moments and that was the key to victory.” Majoli, who also struggled on Saturday in her opening singles match against Dementieva, was nevertheless pleased with her effort against Myskina. “I played a bit better today and my racket was fine,” said the 25-year-old from Zagreb, who complained of a loosely-strung racket in Saturday’s match. “But she (Myskina) played well today. I had some chances in the second set and, if I won that set, I could have turned the match around. But she was just too strong today.” In the end, Russian Fed Cup captain Shamil Tarpischev was pleased with his team’s performance. “I have to be honest, we expected this victory,” Tarpischev said. “Fortunately for us, we have a lot of good players on the women’s team and it gives us the luxury of changing the line-up if we have to. So I think we have a good chance against Slovenia as well even though we have to play them on their turf,” he added. “Therefore, I remain optimistic about our next tie and if we win that, I think we’re going to ask the Fed Cup committee to host the final four in Moscow.”
