報導中提了我才發現這巧合,原來戴娃昨天的對手, 就正是指導她發球Krajicek在'96溫網決賽對手Washington的妹妹啊! A Russian sweep at Wimbledon By STEVEN WINE, AP Sports Writer June 24, 2005 WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- Heeding advice from 1996 men's champion Richard Krajicek, Elena Dementieva helped Russian women finish 4-0 Friday at Wimbledon. The Russians won all but two of the six women's third-round matches played. Two-time Grand Slam runner-up Dementieva was brimming with newfound confidence after she received serving tips from Krajicek. The big Dutchman, armed with one of the most dominating serves in tennis, upset Pete Sampras at Wimbledon nine years ago and then beat MaliVai Washington in the final. On Friday, Dementieva defeated Washington's sister, Mashona, 7-5, 6-1. Dementieva, a top-10 player even though her serve rivals the worst on the women's tour, said Krajicek gave her lessons during the past two weeks. ``He helped me a lot with my serve,'' said Dementieva, seeded sixth. ``I was very pleased that he was working with me, because I think he had the best serve on the tour. You know, it looks so simple when he does it.'' Dementieva and her compatriots don't always make tennis look simple, but they're advancing through the women's draw in record numbers. Seven Russians made the final 32, the most in Wimbledon history. All remain in contention, including defending champion Maria Sharapova and Friday's winners -- Dementieva, U.S. Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova, French Open semifinalist Elena Likhovtseva and 2004 Roland Garros winner Anastasia Myskina. No. 5-seeded Kuznetsova overcame a set point in the opening set and edged 16-year-old Nicole Vaidisova 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-2. No. 13 Likhovtseva needed a comeback to beat Silvia Farina Elia 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. But the day's most dramatic match involved Myskina, who failed to convert two match points in the second set, fell behind 5-1 in the third, squandered 24 of 33 break-point chances and still won. Seeded ninth despite a prolonged slump, Myskina beat Jelena Jankovic 6-0, 5-7, 10-8. ``Maybe I'm not playing my best tennis,'' she said. ``But at least I fight and I do my best.'' Last month, Myskina became the first defending champion at the French Open to be eliminated in the opening round. And each of her matches this week has been wrenching. She won in the opening round despite losing serve nine times. In the next round, she failed to convert 12 set points in the first set, yet won again. Myskina said the victories have been good therapy for her mother, who has been battling a serious illness back home in Moscow. ``She's really proud,'' Myskina said. ``Right now she's really happy. That's really good.'' Myskina's next opponent will be Dementieva, a friend since childhood. They took lessons from Marat Safin's mother as youngsters, played doubles together and competed in last year's French Open final, with Myskina winning. Dementieva double-faulted 10 times in that defeat and afterward said she hated her serve. She had 17 double-faults in the second round Wednesday but just four Friday. ``I just feel like finally I've got confidence on my serve,'' she said. ``Even if I do double-faults, I feel like I'm doing the right thing. It's kind of difficult to change your serve just a week before a Grand Slam, but I really like my new serve.'' -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 203.203.34.44
