Finley, who will turn 40 in March, will be guaranteed $14 million
over the first two years of a deal that could net him a third year
and $20 million total. Finley will be paid $6 million in 2005,
$7 million in 2006 and, if he gets 600 plate appearances in the
second year of the deal, he will qualify for a mutual option that
could pay him $7 million in 2007. The contract includes a $1 million
buyout.
