Angels manager Mike Scioscia acknowledged that Santana is a candidate to be promoted from Triple-A and start one of the games. Santana made his most recent start in Triple-A on Sunday and would be on normal rest for a Friday start in Boston. He went allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings. In five starts since his demotion, Santana is 2-1 with a 5.01 ERA, 39 hits allowed in 32 1/3 innings and a .305 opponents’ batting average. But Fenway Park would not be the ideal place for Santana to make his return to the big leagues. In two career starts there, he is 0-2 and gave up 13 runs on 12 hits and seven walks in eight total innings. "We have some options we’re going to look at," Scioscia said, citing relievers Chris Bootcheck and Darren Oliver as "in-house options." John Lackey is on track to pitch one of the games in the doubleheader.
