The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and catcher Jeff Mathis agreed to terms
on a 2011 contract on Wednesday as the two sides avoided arbitration.
Mathis missed 55 games last season after fracturing his right wrist on
April 19. He wound up playing 68 games in 2010 and batted . 195 with three
home runs and 18 RBI.
Over his six years in the majors, all with the Angels, he has batted .199
with 23 homers and 117 RBI over 333 games.
The Angels now have six players remaining on arbitration: shortstop Erick
Aybar, second baseman Howie Kendrick, first baseman Kendry Morales, catcher
Mike Napoli, pitcher Jered Weaver and outfielder Reggie Willits.
