Rudy Fernandez is coming I think most people were confident Spanish superstar Rudy Fernandez would join the Trail Blazers in the 2008-2009 season, but now all doubt has been removed. Rudy has officially announced he'll be leaving DKV Joventut to join up with the Red and Black. Spain shooting guard Rudy Fernandez said he was leaving local side DKV Joventut to join the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers on Friday. "They have pushed hard for me to join them and have assured me I will be an important figure for them," Fernandez told a news conference. "It wasn't an easy decision to take but it is the time for a new challenge after a fantastic year with Joventut." Fantastic news. From the looks of Rudy's comments it sounds like the charm offensive employed by Paul Allen, Kevin Pritchard and the rest of the front office staff made the difference. Some teams might have left Rudy's decision up to chance, but when Allen and Pritchard decide they want something, they take the extra steps to get it. That ethos has made all the difference and it's why the turnaround in Portland has been so swift.
