一位球迷替 Ruben Patterson 所提出的辯解 :p

Ruben Patterson has been nothing but GREAT for the Blazers. He always plays
hard. He starts when we want him to start. He comes off the bench when we want
that.
He had one trouble with the law but the charges were dropped and that should
be kept between him and his wife.
Then, with his hands held behind his back, he was sucker punched in practice by
Zach Randolph late in the season when we were in the midst of a race for home
court advantage. Ruben had to miss three games because of that punch. Ruben
then came back as soon as he could and didn't cause any trouble at all. He
played hard and he played WELL with Randolph on the court. Watch the playoffs
and you will see many passes from Ruben to Zach and vice versa.
Now, over the summer, the Blazers are being hypocritical. They are CLAIMING to
care about character and yet, at the same time they've publically called
Randolph (the man who punched Ruben) one of the more untouchable players on the
roster. And now Woods is said to be getting more minutes too. In other words,
after all of his hard work and good behavior, he's possibly going to lose
minutes to a man who punched him. Hey, Randolph is really talented but that
punch was worse than ANYTHING any other Blazer has ever done. Sheed threw a
towel, not a suckerpunch, at Sabonis. Sheed yelled at a ref in a PARKING LOT.
Now, here's what irks me the most.
There has not been ONE SINGLE QUOTE from Ruben about wanting to be traded. We
have not heard his demands or the tone in which he made the demands or his
reasons for making the demands. We have no concrete proof that he's even MADE
demands. And yet many of the fans in the forum are getting pissed at him and
calling him names.
Hey, I haven't heard it from his mouth, but if he did demand a trade, I can
understand it. He doesn't want to play with a guy who suckerpunched him. That
makes sense. If he HAS to, he will. He showed us that he COULD in the playoffs.
But he'd rather not. An 82 game season and playoff run requires a bond of trust
between teammates. Ruben doesn't trust Zach. And with good reason.
Give him a break. Also, IF he made the demand, he waited all summer FIRST to
see how everything played out and then he appropriately made his demand in
September so as to not disrupt training camp.
Hey, NO ONE is being held hostage. Nash is better than that. If we can find a
deal with Ruben that benefits us, Nash will pull the trigger and we'll be
better off. And if we can't find a good deal, Ruben will stay with the team and
conduct himself professionally. He has done so to this point.
