He was whisked off to Charing Cross Hospital, with the Rovers defender quickly regaining consciousness, sitting up and chatting. After being cleared by the medical staff, Samba was able to travel to join up with the rest of his team-mates for their flight back to the North West. This is the second time already this season that a Rovers player has been subject to a head injury, on the opening day of the season striker Benni McCarthy also had to be stretchered off after a clash of heads.
