The Republic of Ireland international, who hasn't pulled on a Rovers shirt since the end of August 2006, was ready to return to action in January 2007 after sustaining a back injury on international duty, but unfortunately he sustained a cruciate knee ligament injury that ruled him out for the remainder of last season. Niggling calf and hamstring injuries have hampered his progress this campaign, but his manager Mark Hughes has revealed that fans will get a chance to see the popular midfielder very soon. "Steven Reid been training with the group this week, he's done very well," said the Rovers boss. "He's done everything that is expected of him, has trained hard and he's looking to be involved in the reserves against Sunderland on Monday. It has been fourteen months since the midfielder last featured in a Rovers shirt, but now free from the injuries that have plagued him for over a year, Reid is a welcome inclusion for this evening's match. Other senior players getting a runout this evening are Stephane Henchoz and Maceo Rigters, whilst Sergio Peter, Bruno Berner and Keith Treacy get more games under their belts as they too return from long-term injuries.
