After Overbay's third-inning double gave the Brewers a 2-1 lead, Cirillo turned on a 1-0 pitch from Perez and sent it into the Brewers' dugout in left-center field. It was Cirillo's first Brewers home run since Sept. 29, 1999 (off Pirates righty Chris Peters at County Stadium), and matched his total from all of last season. Cirillo also saved at least one run in the bottom of the fifth inning, when he leaped to catch Jason Bay's line drive headed for the left field corner. The Pirates had runners at first and third and one run already in. "That was awesome," Sheets said. "I left a breaking ball up and I'm lucky [Bay] just hit a line drive, instead of a bomb." Milwaukee broke the game open -- with a healthy dose of good luck -- by batting around in a five-run sixth inning against Perez and reliever Rick White. After Chad Moeller's bunt popped over charging third baseman Ty Wigginton's head, Hardy delivered a single to left field that plated two runs. "That bought Ben Sheets two more innings on the mound," manager Ned Yost said. "If [Hardy] didn't drive in anybody there, we were going to have to pinch-hit. So that was a huge hit by J.J. It gave us two more innings of Ben Sheets, and Ben was really good today." Clark followed two batters later with a two-run single, then scored on an error by shortstop Jack Wilson. It was some rare offense for Sheets, who got just 19 runs of support in his 14 losses last season. "My fastball was working great, that was about it," Sheets said. "It was pretty dry out there -- the wind made everything dry out -- so I was having trouble getting grips." In seven innings, Sheets allowed two runs on eight hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out six to improve to 3-6 lifetime at PNC Park. The Brewers improved to 12-26 in four-plus years against the Pirates at PNC Park. "We don't believe in that, 'You don't play well here' stuff," Yost said. "You look at our spring numbers, and we were very, very good offensively. It just goes to show you that it's not a fluke." -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.167.111.237
