JON HEYMAN September 26, 2014 1:41 pm ET The Brewers plan to exercise top starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo's $13 million option for 2015, sources say. The call to bring the right-hander Gallardo back rather than buy him out for $600,000 isn't a surprise and has been speculated on by Brewers writers, including Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. The Brewers like Gallardo's consistency and youth (the veteran is still only 28). He is 8-11 with a 3.56 ERA after taking the loss in the 5-3 defeat at Cincinnati on Thursday that eliminated the fading Brewers from playoff consideration. Gallardo, a top-end starter for years in Milwaukee, is 89-64 lifetime with a 3.69 ERA.
