PRAGUE, Czech Republic (AFP) - Petr Pala, a runner-up in the 2001 French Open
men's doubles, was on Thursday named as the new captain of the Czech Republic
Fed Cup team.
Pala, 32, takes over from Ales Kodat who quit on Wednesday for personal
reasons.
"Petr Pala is a hard-working man and a former world number 10 in doubles. He
has always been an excellent player," said Ivo Kaderka, the president of the
Czech Tennis Federation (CTS).
"During the last two years, he has proved his qualities as manager of the Fed
Cup and Davis Cup teams."
