It's no secret that I'm a big, big Rasmus backer, and his recent performance with Team USA has only strengthened that perception. Springer won't be going anywhere. His history of arm troubles guarantees that he'll be staying in the bullpen. Franklin, however, I wouldn't rule out. His contract does provide for some incentives in the case that he's moved to the rotation, which indicates that the topic has at least come up. I expect that Franklin will remain a reliever, but it is at least an option at some point if they want to use him as a starter again. In the free-agent market, the buy-low guys are the guys to watch. Cardinals fans are definitely tired of buying low, but if you're dipping your toes in the free-agent market this winter, it's the way you have to go. Clement is an intriguing risk, as are guys such as Jon Lieber, Freddy Garcia and Kris Benson. I'm sure the Cardinals would love to add Sean Marshall, but if the Cubs somehow decided to move him, you can bet they'd like to send him someplace further way.
