Darren rage as doctor joins Chelsea (摘錄)
By Ian Chadband, Evening Standard
17 February 2005
Sprint champion Darren Campbell today criticised British Olympic bosses
for letting one of the best medical officers in world sport become
Chelsea's new club doctor.
English, the British Olympic team doctor who nursed Kelly Holmes and
Campbell to golds in Athens, has already started work for the Premiership
leaders. He takes over from Neil Frazer, who walked out after a row with
coach Jose Mourinho over Arjen Robben's injury.
It left Manchester United fan Campbell reflecting with a rueful grin:
"One of the first things I thought when he told me he was off to Chelsea
was that "they're definitely going to win the League now!"
Campbell added: "I've spoken to Bryan about it. He loves athletics. I
know that if he'd been made the right offer he'd have stayed. It is
maddening because we can't afford to lose people of his talent.
"To be honest, it's totally frustrating and upsetting for all British
athletes. Bryan's a great man who played a massive part in me getting
through the Olympics with my injury and eventually coming away with a
gold medal. Chelsea's gain is very much the loss of British athletics.
