http://www.chelseafc.com/article.asp?hlid=346374 Reaction: Mourinho - "We wanted the win, we were very strong" Sunday, Dec 18, 2005 In the aftermath of Chelsea completing a first league double over Arsenal since the 1969/70 season, Jose Mourinho explained that his team had been determined to take all three points from what was possibly their last visit to Highbury. Playing for a draw was never considered he insisted after Arjen Robben and Joe Cole goals had executed the plan. “We wanted to go for three points and the players got the message,” Mourinho said. “From the first minute they played very well. The beginning of the game was very impressive. Petr Cech didn't touch the ball until 13 minutes, not even a back pass, and for the first 30 minutes we were playing in the opponents' half, dominating the game. (因為想贏,所以開局很積極,切赫13分鐘才碰到球,此前連回傳球也沒有。) “That beginning was a big impact and after that we had the confidence to think about the win. From the mental point of view my players were very strong.” (開局讓球隊更有自信,球員的精神層面非常強大。) A buoyant Mourinho was in the mood to lift the curtain on the thinking that sees his record against Arsenal stand at three wins, two draws and no defeats. (莫里老大目前對阿森納的戰績 - 3勝,2平,0敗。) “They are the type of team that have such quality in attack that if you lose the ball in a dangerous area they can kill you. You want to dominate the game but your choice in terms of pass is very important. (阿森那攻擊力很強,因此傳球的選擇非常重要。) “For example, if you play from Carvalho or Terry to Makelele and he is under pressure and loses the ball, they kill you. You have to play a different way against them. You have not to pass to the next man to you. Instead of five-to-ten metre passes, you have to use 12-to-16 metre ones and if you have possession, you must have always a good structure behind you. We had always five players behind the ball so when we lost possession we were always well organised.” (不能選擇5-10呎的傳球,而是12-16呎的傳球,把握控球,保持防守。) The subject of Michael Essien's first-half clash with Lauren, when the Arsenal defender was caught by a raised arm, inevitably surfaced. Mourinho responded by going on the attack. (埃辛又成為爭議焦點,莫里老大為此反擊。) “The incident I saw was ten players jumping on him, like a strategy. Like they were going to use the image Essien has at the moment in the first body-to-body situation. What I saw was very, very sad - ten players jumping on one. He has made his mistake and he has been punished with a suspension for the Champions League. Now I think he deserves to be looked at as a great player. We have to be careful how other teams react in relation to him.” (埃辛一犯規,10個人立刻圍上來,這是一種試圖影響裁判的策略。) Mourinho also argued that Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos was guilty of two fouls that both should have resulted in a straight red card. The Swiss stopper finished the game with just one yellow. (如果埃辛該紅牌,那森德羅斯也算逃過一劫。) Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was prepared to concede there could have been a case to answer over the Senderos claim but was adamant Essien's game should also have ended early. “He didn't played the ball, he played the player and it should have been a straight red,” he said. Wenger, who had seen a run of 13 home Premiership wins come to an end and had presided over three straight Arsenal league defeats for the first time, also bemoaned the decision to rule out van Persie’s first-half strike for offside. “In a game like this the first goal has massive importance. Eighty- five per cent of these games are decided by the first goal. It was a very bad decision by the referee,” he complained before qualifying the statement in a surprising manner. “I associate the referee and the linesman in the same team — the Chelsea team. “I would have loved to have seen the game today with us going 1-0 up rather than them. They win the ball and they hit it strong forward. Drogba goes for every challenge with Robben and they do not come back out of position so it is easy to be strong defensively.” He conceded that Arsenal could no longer catch Chelsea in the title race but did not dismiss the chances of others. Mourinho refused to say his team could not now be overtaken but again pointed out that Anfield, Old Trafford and Highbury are now behind Chelsea in the fixture list. “It is more difficult to beat Arsenal than other teams and it is more difficult to beat them at Highbury than at home,” he added. “It was three points in a stadium where you can lose points.” (在海布里的戰鬥很艱難,但三大客場戰役總算結束了。) The season 1969/70 proved to be a momentous one for Chelsea, the year of our first FA Cup win. As Chelsea head into Christmas with a nine-point lead over the chasing pack, 2005/06 is shaping up nicely too.
